Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer at mbue, you’ll be instrumental in building the core infrastructure and product features that power our AI-driven architectural review platform. You’ll take ownership of key systems, contribute to backend and frontend development, help organize and prioritize the engineering backlog, and work closely with leadership to unblock execution. This is a hands-on role that balances technical depth, organizational skills, and a strong product mindset.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI
Deploy and manage applications in AWS using Docker and Fargate
Own CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable, high-quality software releases using GitHub Actions
Translate product features into technical specifications and Jira epics/tickets
Collaborate across engineering to remove blockers and maintain execution focus
Lead the effort to ship our mbue Submittals MVP and support its launch
Contribute to our SOC2 Type 2 compliance process and organize deliverables in Sprinto
Prototype new features and resolve technical risks through experimentation
Foster a culture of high standards, ownership, and continuous improvement
What we’re looking for:
Strong backend development experience in Python and FastAPI
Familiarity with frontend technologies like React and willingness to contribute to full-stack delivery
Experience integrating and deploying LLMs, including prompt engineering and fine-tuning
Background in software architecture and system design
AWS deployment knowledge, especially using ECS, Fargate, and Docker
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions

Principal Machine Learning Engineer

As the first Principal Machine Learning Engineer at mbue, you will spearhead the design, development, and implementation of advanced AI technology. This includes overseeing the research, development, and training of advanced models. You will collaborate closely with the CTO and CEO to ensure alignment with the product roadmap and the achievement of target milestones, mentor junior machine learning engineers, and help us continue to build an amazing team.
For this position, you must demonstrate professional experience and proficiency in the following areas:Computer Vision and Deep Learning Expertise: Extensive knowledge of and hands-on experience with computer vision and deep learning techniques.
Strong Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and mentor junior ML engineers to bring leading-edge technology to market.

We’re looking for a Machine Learning Engineer who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and take on some of the most ambitious AI challenges in construction. You’ll be expected to independently drive model development—from early experimentation to deployment and monitoring. This role is perfect for someone who is self-directed, impact-driven, and thrives in fast-paced, unstructured environments. You’ll need a builder’s mentality—practical, creative, and relentless in pursuit of great solutions.
This isn’t a role where you’ll just tune hyperparameters. You’ll be solving real-world problems that don’t come with clean benchmarks or clear paths. If you bring a tenacious desire for excellence and a mindset focused on solving problems (not just using cool tech), we’d love to meet you.

Build and deploy machine learning models from scratch, from experimentation to production
